‘A lot of people don’t believe in love at first sight, but it felt like it was for us,’ says Racheal of the cold winter’s night she met Carmelo. ‘It’s hard to explain, but you just know when they are the one and that’s exactly what happened to us,’ says Racheal. It was by a chance that a friend introduced Racheal and Carmelo on a long weekend in 2008. Three years later Carmelo planned a surprise sunset proposal at Bradley’s Head after a romantic picnic lunch. They set about planning an elegant modern wedding that honoured the traditions of their Italian culture.

They chose to marry in a traditional church ceremony at Our Lady of Victories, Horsley Park and later celebrated into the night at the Le Montage in the Deannah’s view room. A colour scheme of neutral colour palette of  ivory, cream and white was accented with musk pink and light purple. To keep their Italian culture present the couple had their MC translate all the announcements to Italian and ensured there was customary Italian dancing and food. ‘Our magician entertainer was a big hit, mingling throughout the tables, amazing our guests we’ve been told.’ The timeless wedding imbued with luxurious details and a fun atmosphere was such that Racheal was voted Navarra Venues Bride of the Year.

Racheal, dreamt of a beautiful big wedding dress and with the help of Personalised Weddings Couture her dream became a reality. The wedding dress made from French lace and Italian silk was completed with a long train and cathedral veil. Racheal carried a bouquet of white roses and ivory carnations. Her bridesmaids wore dresses from George Collections in musk pink and soft purple, while the groomsmen donned deep grey three piece suits with matching ties to the bridesmaids.

‘The stylish room at Le Montage set the tone for our elegant wedding. The musk pink and ivory setting, with striking lighting for the main table provided our guests with the ‘Wow factor’ as they entered. From the Organza bows with crystal botchers behind every guest’s chair to the silk ivory tablecloths, to our stunning centrepieces it made a magical evening. For our centrepieces we favoured black & white Goldfish in a tall vase, surrounded by candles to create a personal touch. It was very effective & tied in well together,’ says Racheal. Guests went home with small limoncello bottles in lemon, strawberry and blood orange as well as a box of rock candy to mark the occasion.

They chose D’Amico Photography to capture all the details of their day. ‘We actually used to always drive passed D’Amico Photography’s studio on the way back from the city. There were only a few photos hung in the window but I used to admire them and always told Carmelo “we have to go for a consultation when we get married”. We set the appointment up and loved John’s work, it was very natural and impressive.’
